To be eligible for the award of a scholarship, prospective scholars must have a Guarantor who will agree to repay the value of the scholarship together with all interest accrued, in the instance that the scholar breaches the Scholarship Agreement and is unwilling to serve their obligation or repay the value of the scholarship loan.
To be a Guarantor for a Scholarship Agreement, the person must:

Be a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago; and
Be a resident in Trinidad and Tobago; and
Be over the age of eighteen (18); and
Not be the spouse of the scholar; and
Not be a guarantor of another scholar; and
Not be a previous scholar who is obligated to the GoRTT; and
Be gainfully employed or self-employed and able to repay the full value of the scholarship loan; and
The Guarantor must provide substantial evidence of ability to repay in full
